A child needs to have the right nutrition in order to grow a healthy body and brain. There are numerous foods that are appropriate for your infant to help boost brain development. Successfully running a high quality infant care program for many years, Kids ‘R’ Kids Learning Academy of Woodstock understands the importance of eating the right foods for the development of your infant’s brain. We recommend the following foods:

Blueberries

The blue in blueberries comes from flavonoids called anthocyanins. These are good for your infant’s brain as well as for the eyes and a healthy urinary tract.

Whole-grain products, eggs and cereal

These foods have ARA and DHA fatty acids which are important for the transmission of neurons in the brain, contributing to a faster brain. DHA is an omega-3 fatty acid that makes up 25 percent of the total fat in the brain. ARA is the main omega-6 fatty acid in the brain. These are both essential for brain development in your child.

Yogurt

Yogurt is a good food to introduce when your infant is ready to start eating solid foods, generally around six months old. Of course, yogurt has calcium for bones, but it is also good for supporting brain and heart health and can boost the immune system. Stay away from yogurts that have added sugar.

Your infant needs adequate nutrition for the brain to develop properly. Be sure to visit your pediatrician in Woodstock to ask for further assistance with a proper diet plan for your infant.

At Kids ‘R’ Kids Learning Academy of Woodstock, our infant care program addresses your infant’s holistic, comprehensive development including: language, physical, cognitive and social and emotional.
